I started in 2013, initially working on editorial makeup and photoshoots, while simultaneously studying for a Diploma in Bridal Makeup at Cosmoprof Academy in Singapore. My specialization focuses on enhancing each client's natural beauty. I always prioritize prepping the skin before applying makeup to create a soft, skin-like finish for all my beautiful Bali brides.
How do you create a seamless and unforgettable experience for brides choosing Bali as their wedding destination?
Communication is always a priority for me. We focus on understanding each bride’s unique preferences for makeup and hair. We also offer trial sessions for bridal hair and makeup to ensure clients are satisfied with the results. This allows them to relax and enjoy their big day, knowing everything will be perfect.
What is the typical process for a bride in Bali who selects DEA Makeup for her wedding day, from the initial consultation to the final touches?
First, I ask clients for a specific look they envision for their wedding day, often referencing something from my portfolio. If they don’t have a reference, I guide them to find the best look for their skin type and tone, while considering a hairstyle that complements the makeup, dress, and wedding theme. We offer a trial package that includes a trial session, makeup on the actual day, and a retouch service to make the client’s day easier, stress-free, and enjoyable. My main goal is a happy bride!
Bali's climate can be quite humid. What tips and techniques do you recommend for brides to ensure their makeup stays flawless throughout their tropical wedding day?
We prep the skin with products suited to the bride's skin type, then apply a thin layer of makeup. I always set cream products with powder and finish with a generous amount of setting spray to lock everything in place. The makeup typically stays intact as long as the bride is aware of how to maintain it—particularly if she is crying or sweating. I also provide tips on how to care for her makeup before walking down the aisle.
What are some current bridal makeup trends you're seeing in Bali, and how do they differ from other popular wedding destinations?
Right now, natural to soft glam makeup is trending for weddings, with an emphasis on maintaining the bride’s natural skin tone. In general, makeup trends in Bali tend to lean towards timeless, elegant looks, rather than dramatic or overly bold styles.
Bali attracts a diverse range of brides from around the world. How do you accommodate different cultural preferences and skin tones to ensure every bride looks stunning?
Every client is unique, so I always ensure I have a wide range of products to suit different skin tones, from base foundations to eyeshadows and lip colors. My goal is for every bride to feel stunning in her own skin, no matter her background or complexion.
For brides planning a destination wedding in Bali, what should they consider when scheduling their makeup trial session, especially if they're traveling from abroad?
Our trial sessions are flexible and can be scheduled based on both the client's and our team’s availability. Trials are typically held anywhere from one year before the wedding to just one day before the big day.
How do you personalize a bride's makeup to reflect her individual style while also complementing the unique atmosphere and setting of a Bali wedding?
Bali is known for its beautiful views, vibrant atmosphere, and mostly outdoor settings. Many brides choose Bali for its warm sunlight, gentle breezes, and tropical climate, so they tend to pick airy, comfortable dresses that complement the natural surroundings. This influences the makeup and hair, which we tailor to fit the laid-back yet elegant vibe of the destination.
