Talking To Bali Wedding Vendors: Episode 4 - Lumbung Catering
In this Q&A, we chat with Lumbung Catering about their journey from intimate dinners to wedding catering in Bali, and what makes their service stand out for couples on their special day.
Tell us a bit about your catering business. How did it all start?
Our adventure began with offering intimate honeymoon dinners at charming villas in Canggu and Seminyak. As we gained popularity, wedding organizers started reaching out, and we decided to take the leap into wedding catering. We started small, with private ceremonies, and have been growing ever since!
What makes your catering service unique compared to others in Bali?
Flexibility is our forte! We pride ourselves on customizing our packages to fit each guest's preferences and budget, ensuring a personalized experience that meets their needs.
Can you share some of your most popular dishes or menu items for weddings?
Our "East Meets West" and signature menus are crowd favorites. They offer a delightful mix of flavors that appeal to a wide range of tastes, making them perfect for weddings.
How do you work with couples to create a personalized menu for their big day?
We start by understanding what the couple envisions for their menu. We then provide suggestions and options that align with their tastes, working together to craft a menu that feels just right for their celebration.
What’s the most memorable wedding you’ve catered to, and what made it stand out?
Each wedding is special in its own way, but our first wedding holds a special place in our hearts. It was the beginning of our journey into wedding catering, and it taught us so much about what we love to do.
How do you accommodate different dietary needs or preferences, like vegan or gluten-free options?
We have several strategies in place. We clearly label dishes, serve them separately to avoid cross-contamination, and can modify our menu to ensure everyone has something delicious to enjoy.
What’s your favorite part about catering weddings in Bali?
We love the diversity of people we meet! Each couple brings their own story and background, which keeps our job exciting and allows us to learn and grow with every event.
Can you share any tips for couples who are trying to choose their wedding menu?
Know your guests! If they're not familiar with local cuisine, it might be best to include some familiar options. But don't be afraid to introduce new flavors—just make sure there's something for everyone. Most importantly, choose dishes that you love and will enjoy on your big day.
How do you handle unexpected challenges on the wedding day, like changes in weather or timing?
We always have a backup plan ready. For weather-related issues, we suggest setting up food in a sheltered area or renting tents. Being prepared helps us handle any surprises smoothly.
Lastly, what advice would you give to couples planning their wedding catering in Bali?
Definitely schedule a tasting session! It's a great way to refine your menu and make sure everything is just how you want it. Plus, it gives us a chance to get to know you better and tailor our service to your needs.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know Lumbung Catering. If you're planning your special day, consider reaching out to them for a taste of what they offer. Stay tuned for more vendor spotlights and wedding planning tips!
